Camp Cooking – Dutch Oven Raspberry Cobbler

Bored of S’mores? Here’s another easy option for dessert while camping! You could really use any fruit that’s in season, find a local farm to go pick your own while your camping, great day trip! Or bring something with you… we stopped at our local berry picking farm before leaving on our trip and picked 2 pounds.

Ingredients

FILLING

4 cups raspberries
1/2 cup sugar

COBBLER TOPPING
2 cups bisquick
1 stick melted butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup milk

At campsite – start fire or start coals in your chimney charcoal starter. 

Melt butter over a cooking burner. (if this seems like way too much work you could use a vegetable oil instead)

Mix together all the topping ingredients in a bowl.

Put berries and 1/2 cup sugar in bottom of dutch oven

Spoon plops of the dough on top of berries. (I reduced quantity of dough so it doesn’t fully cover the berries like it does in our photos)

Place dutch oven over some coals, place a few coals on top. If there is a fire near it, turn every 5  minutes. (you can see we didn’t! oops). It only took us about 15 minutes but we were a little too hot. Open lid every 5 minutes and poke with a  fork, it is done when the fork comes out dry in the middle.
